In these Terms, “Greencoin Solar”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Greencoin Technologies (Pty) Ltd trading as Greencoin Solar. “You”, “your”, “user” and “customer” refer to any person who accesses the website, submits an enquiry, requests a quotation, places an order or purchases Products or Services from us.
“Products” include solar panels, batteries, inverters, mounting equipment, electrical equipment, accessories and related goods.
“Services” include consultation, system design, site assessment, supply, installation, commissioning, maintenance, support and related solar services.
2. APPLICATION AND ACCEPTANCE
These Terms apply when you:
- access or use the website;
- submit an enquiry or quotation request;
- use a calculator or package recommendation tool;
- place an online order;
- purchase products; or
- engage us for solar-related Services.
By using the website, you accept the provisions relating to website use. A binding sale or installation agreement is created only once we accept an order, you accept a written quotation, or the parties sign a separate agreement.
Additional agreements may govern installation projects, financed purchases and commercial projects. Where documents conflict, the following order will generally apply:
- signed sale, installation, maintenance or service agreement;
- accepted quotation and approved variation orders;
- finance agreement;
- manufacturer or product warranty;
- Returns, Refunds and Warranty Policy;
- Delivery Policy; and
- these terms.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits rights that may not lawfully be excluded under South African law, including the Consumer Protection Act and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act.
3. WEBSITE USE
You may use the website only for lawful personal or internal business purposes.
You may view, print or download reasonable extracts for evaluating products or services, obtaining internal approval, retaining transaction records or seeking professional advice.
You may not:
- copy, reproduce or commercially distribute website content without permission;
- scrape or harvest website, product, pricing or customer data;
- submit false, misleading or fraudulent information;
- place fraudulent orders;
- introduce malicious software;
- interfere with website security;
- attempt unauthorised access;
- impersonate another person or entity;
- infringe intellectual-property rights; or
- use our name, logo or content misleadingly.
We may suspend access where we reasonably suspect unlawful, fraudulent or harmful activity.
4. WEBSITE INFORMATION AND AVAILABILITY
We use reasonable efforts to keep the website accurate, secure and available. However, the website may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, technical faults, security updates, telecommunications failures or circumstances outside our control.
Product descriptions, photographs, specifications and prices are provided in good faith. Minor errors may occur, manufacturers may update specifications and images may be illustrative.
We may correct obvious errors before accepting an order. We will not materially change an accepted transaction without your agreement or a lawful basis.
5. SOLAR CALCULATORS, SAVINGS AND PERFORMANCE ESTIMATES
Website calculators, solar package recommendations, savings projections, payback periods, generation forecasts and backup-duration estimates are indicative only unless expressly included in an accepted quotation or signed agreement.
Actual performance may be affected by:
- weather and seasonal conditions;
- shading and panel orientation;
- roof design and usable area;
- electricity consumption patterns;
- appliance loads and starting currents;
- battery size, age and state of charge;
- equipment efficiency;
- electricity tariffs;
- system settings;
- grid availability;
- export restrictions;
- internet connectivity; and
- maintenance.
We do not guarantee a specific saving, generation amount, battery duration, payback period or level of grid independence unless the guarantee is expressly recorded in writing.
Final system suitability may require an electricity account review, site assessment, load analysis, electrical inspection, roof assessment, and confirmation of municipal or Eskom requirements.
6. PRICES AND QUOTATIONS
All prices are displayed in South African rand.
Website prices are inclusive of VAT. Greencoin Solar must remove the incorrect option before publication.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, displayed prices may exclude:
- delivery;
- installation;
- mounting structures;
- additional cabling;
- distribution-board upgrades;
- trenching and civil works;
- engineer or structural assessments;
- scaffolding or lifting equipment;
- municipal or Eskom application fees;
- meter changes;
- Certificates of Compliance;
- specialist access equipment; and
- work not expressly included in the quotation.
Prices described as “from”, “starting at”, “estimated” or “indicative” are not final quotations.
Quotations remain valid for the period stated and are subject to assumptions, exclusions, stock availability and site conditions.
A quotation may be amended before acceptance where:
- it contains an obvious error;
- the scope changes;
- information supplied by the customer is incorrect or incomplete;
- stock availability changes;
- the validity period has expired; or
- a site assessment reveals additional work.
7. ORDERS AND CONTRACT FORMATION
Placing an online order constitutes an offer to purchase the selected products.
An automated email or message confirming receipt does not necessarily mean that the order has been accepted.
An order is accepted when we:
- issue written acceptance;
- confirm stock allocation;
- issue an invoice confirming acceptance; or
- dispatch the products,
whichever occurs first, unless another process is communicated.
We may reasonably decline an order because of:
- unavailable stock;
- incorrect pricing or specifications;
- unsuccessful or reversed payment;
- suspected fraud;
- delivery restrictions;
- unsafe or incompatible product selection;
- legal restrictions; or
- breach of these terms.
Where we decline an order after receiving payment, we will refund the applicable amount within the period required by law.
An online product order does not include installation unless installation is expressly included in writing.
8. STOCK AND PRODUCT SUBSTITUTION
All products are subject to availability.
If a product is unavailable, we may offer:
- an equivalent alternative;
- a revised delivery date;
- a back order; or
- cancellation and refund.
We will not substitute a material product, brand, model, capacity or specification without your approval where the substitution may affect system performance, compatibility, warranty or value.
Approved substitutions must be recorded in writing.
9. PAYMENT
We accept the payment methods displayed at checkout or stated in a quotation or invoice.
Payment is regarded as received only once:
- cleared funds reflect in our nominated bank account;
- the payment gateway confirms successful payment; or
- an approved finance provider confirms payment.
You must use the correct order, invoice or quotation reference.
You should independently verify any unexpected change to our banking details using our published contact information before making payment.
We may conduct reasonable fraud, payment and identity checks before accepting or dispatching an order.
Ownership of products remains with Greencoin Solar until full payment has been received, unless a finance or other written agreement states otherwise.
Deposits and staged payments for installation projects will be governed by the accepted quotation or signed agreement.
10. DELIVERY
Delivery is available only to supported addresses in South Africa unless otherwise agreed.
Delivery charges and timeframes depend on:
- the delivery address;
- courier coverage;
- product dimensions and weight;
- battery-handling requirements;
- stock location;
- road access; and
- special offloading requirements.
Delivery dates are estimates unless expressly confirmed as fixed.
Delivery periods begin only after payment has cleared, the order has been accepted, stock has been confirmed, and all required information has been supplied.
You must provide accurate delivery and access information and must disclose whether the location:
- is a farm, mine, estate, informal road or construction site;
- requires security or access approval;
- has restricted vehicle access;
- requires special offloading equipment; or
- is difficult or unsafe to access.
Standard delivery does not include installation, carrying products through a building, lifting products onto a roof or upper floor, unpacking, packaging removal, crane services or specialist offloading unless expressly stated.
A suitable authorised person must be available to receive the order.
Reasonable redelivery, storage or return charges may apply where delivery fails because of incorrect information, unavailable access, unsafe conditions or nobody being present.
11. FREE DELIVERY
Free economy delivery may be available for qualifying online equipment orders exceeding R50,000, subject to confirmation at checkout or in writing.
Free delivery:
- applies only within supported South African delivery areas;
- is subject to courier coverage, product size and weight;
- may exclude solar-panel pallets, oversized goods, hazardous goods, batteries, remote areas, farms, mines and difficult-to-access locations;
- excludes specialist offloading, crane, tail-lift and express services; and
- does not include installation.
The R50,000 threshold is calculated after discounts and before separately charged delivery, installation or service fees, unless promotional terms state otherwise.
Where free delivery is unavailable, we may offer:
- collection from a depot;
- delivery to an alternative address;
- delivery for an additional charge; or
- cancellation and refund.
Free economy delivery terms may be changed for future orders but will not be withdrawn from an already accepted order that qualified at the time of acceptance.
12. COLLECTION
Where collection is available, products may be collected only after we confirm that the order is ready.
The collector may be required to provide identification, proof of payment, an order number and written authority.
The customer is responsible for using a suitable vehicle and securing the products safely after collection.
13. INSPECTION, DAMAGE AND RISK
You or your authorised representative should inspect products as soon as reasonably possible after delivery or collection.
Visible damage, shortages or incorrect products should be reported promptly to sales@greencoinsolar.co.za and should include, where available:
- the order or invoice number;
- photographs of the product and packaging;
- serial numbers;
- a description of the issue; and
- the delivery note.
Failure to report damage immediately does not remove statutory rights, but prompt reporting assists with courier claims.
Risk passes when you or your authorised representative takes physical possession of the products, subject to applicable law and any separate written agreement.
14. CANCELLATIONS AND COOLING-OFF RIGHTS
Where the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act applies, a consumer may have the right to cancel a qualifying electronic transaction:
- within seven days after receiving goods; or
- within seven days after agreeing to services.
Where this right applies, the consumer may be responsible for the direct cost of returning the goods.
Certain transactions may be excluded, including:
- specially ordered or customised products;
- Products made to customer specifications;
- services that began with the customer’s consent before the cooling-off period ended; and
- other transactions excluded by law.
Solar systems designed or configured for a specific property may include standard and customised elements. Cancellation rights will be assessed according to the particular transaction and applicable law.
15. RETURNS, REFUNDS AND WARRANTIES
Returns, repairs, replacements, exchanges and refunds are governed by applicable law, our Returns, Refunds and Warranty Policy, manufacturer warranties and any accepted quotation or installation agreement.
Our Returns, Refunds and Warranty Policy is available at https://greencoinsolar.co.za/privacy-policy/.
Depending on the circumstances, a remedy may include:
- repair;
- replacement;
- exchange;
- refund; or
- another lawful remedy.
Change-of-mind returns not required by law may be subject to reasonable conditions, including:
- prior return approval;
- return within the stated period;
- unused and resaleable condition;
- original packaging;
- proof of purchase;
- inspection; and
- reasonable collection or return costs.
Special-order, customised, configured or installed products may not qualify for an ordinary change-of-mind return. This does not remove rights relating to defective, unsafe, incorrectly supplied or misrepresented products.
Refunds will ordinarily be processed using the original payment method, subject to reasonable verification.
16. PRODUCT AND WORKMANSHIP WARRANTIES
Products may be covered by statutory, manufacturer, distributor or Greencoin Solar warranties.
Warranty conditions differ between products and may require:
- proof of purchase;
- serial numbers;
- product registration;
- approved installation;
- monitoring information;
- maintenance records; and
- operation within specified limits.
To the extent permitted by law, warranties may not cover damage caused by:
- misuse or overloading;
- operation outside specifications;
- unauthorised modifications or repairs;
- tampering;
- incorrect third-party installation;
- failure to follow instructions;
- pests or animals;
- water ingress unrelated to a product defect;
- lightning, fire, flood or external power surges;
- generator or grid conditions outside specifications;
- accidental damage;
- lack of maintenance; or
- relocation without approval.
Where we perform installation work, the workmanship warranty will be stated in the accepted quotation or installation agreement.
A product warranty does not automatically include removal, transport, scaffolding, call-out, reinstallation or making-good costs unless required by law or expressly included.
17. SOLAR INSTALLATION SERVICES
Installation Services require an accepted quotation or signed agreement.
Before installation, we may require:
- proof of ownership or landlord approval;
- body corporate or homeowners’ association approval;
- electricity accounts;
- property and access information;
- essential-load information;
- photographs or plans;
- site assessment;
- finance approval;
- municipal or Eskom information; and
- payment of the required deposit.
You warrant that all information supplied is complete and accurate.
Additional work may be required where we discover:
- an unsafe or non-compliant electrical installation;
- roof or structural defects;
- asbestos or hazardous materials;
- inadequate roof strength or space;
- concealed services;
- unexpected trenching;
- difficult access;
- additional distribution-board work;
- additional earthing or surge protection;
- scaffolding or lifting requirements; or
- requirements imposed by an engineer, municipality, Eskom or network operator.
Additional work will be quoted for approval before proceeding, except where urgent action is reasonably required to address an immediate safety risk.
You must provide safe and reasonable access, secure pets, keep children and unauthorised persons away from the work area and arrange any required estate or security access.
Installation may require a temporary interruption of electricity.
We are not responsible for pre-existing defects or non-compliance that we did not cause.
18. SSEG, MUNICIPAL AND ESKOM APPROVALS
Solar and embedded-generation requirements differ between municipalities, Eskom supply areas and network operators.
Requirements may include:
- SSEG registration;
- municipal or Eskom approval;
- approved inverter models;
- engineering documents;
- a single-line diagram;
- a Certificate of Compliance;
- meter replacement;
- export limitation;
- commissioning documentation; and
- authority fees.
The accepted quotation or installation agreement will state whether our scope includes applications, documentation, engineering approval, authority fees, meter changes or permission to connect or export.
Unless expressly guaranteed in writing, we do not guarantee approval by a municipality, Eskom, body corporate, homeowners’ association, lender or other third party.
Authority processing times are outside our direct control.
The property owner or electricity-account holder remains responsible for obligations imposed directly on them unless the written agreement states otherwise.
19. SYSTEM OPERATION
You must operate the solar system in accordance with product manuals, commissioning instructions, safety requirements and system limitations.
Battery backup does not mean that every appliance or circuit can operate simultaneously during an outage.
High-consumption appliances may require specific system design and may not form part of the backed-up circuits.
Overloading may cause the system to trip or shut down and may affect product life or warranty coverage.
Where monitoring depends on Wi-Fi or internet access, you are responsible for maintaining a suitable connection unless otherwise agreed.
You must not permit unauthorised persons to modify, relocate, bypass or repair the system.
20. FINANCE AND CREDIT CHECKS
Finance is provided by independent third-party finance providers and is subject to:
- application;
- identity verification;
- affordability assessment;
- credit approval;
- the provider’s terms;
- applicable interest and fees; and
- conclusion of a separate finance agreement.
Greencoin Solar does not guarantee finance approval.
Displayed instalments are estimates unless confirmed by the finance provider.
The finance agreement is between you and the finance provider, even where we assist with the application.
Where legally permitted and appropriately authorised, we may provide relevant information to finance providers, credit bureaus, identity-verification providers and fraud-prevention services.
You warrant that all finance and credit information supplied is accurate and complete.
21. PRIVACY AND COMMUNICATIONS
We process personal information in accordance with applicable data-protection law and our Privacy Policy, available at https://greencoinsolar.co.za/privacy-policy/.
We may process information relating to:
- identity and contact details;
- property and installation information;
- electricity usage and accounts;
- orders and payments;
- quotations;
- finance applications;
- website usage;
- cookies;
- warranties; and
- support requests.
Where necessary and lawful, information may be shared with authorised service providers, including:
- couriers;
- installers and subcontractors;
- suppliers and manufacturers;
- payment processors;
- finance providers;
- credit bureaus;
- software and CRM providers;
- professional advisers; and
- public authorities.
We may send transactional communications relating to enquiries, quotations, payments, orders, delivery, installation, support, finance and warranties.
Direct marketing will be sent only where permitted by law. Marketing consent will be requested separately where required, and recipients may opt out using the method provided in the communication.
Opting out of marketing does not prevent necessary transactional, contractual, legal or safety communications.
22. COOKIES
The website may use cookies, pixels, analytics and similar technologies to:
- operate the Website;
- remember preferences;
- improve performance;
- analyse usage;
- measure campaigns;

23. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
All website content, including text, photographs, graphics, videos, designs, software, logos and trade marks, is owned by, licensed to or lawfully used by Greencoin Solar.
Manufacturer names and trade marks remain the property of their respective owners.
Access to the website does not transfer ownership of any intellectual property.
You may not use our name, logo or website content commercially without prior written permission.
24. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
The Website may link to or integrate with third-party platforms, including payment gateways, finance providers, credit bureaus, couriers, maps, social media, monitoring platforms and manufacturer portals.
Third-party services may be governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
We are not responsible for third-party content or systems outside our reasonable control. This does not remove any responsibility the law places on us for third parties appointed to perform our obligations.
25. REVIEWS AND PHOTOGRAPHS
Where you submit a review, testimonial, photograph or other content, you warrant that it is accurate, lawful and does not infringe another person’s rights.
Subject to applicable law, you grant us permission to display and adapt content submitted for publication.
We may moderate or remove unlawful, misleading, defamatory or inappropriate content.
Identifiable installation photographs, customer images or property details will not be used for marketing without an appropriate lawful basis or separate consent.
26. LIABILITY
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that may not lawfully be excluded.
Subject to applicable law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising solely from:
- temporary website unavailability;
- incompatible devices or software;
- reliance on indicative calculators;
- internet or telecommunications failures;
- third-party websites outside our control; or
- unlawful use of the website.
We are not responsible for a loss to the extent that it was caused or increased by:
- incorrect information supplied by you;
- system overloading;
- failure to follow instructions;
- unauthorised modifications;
- failure to maintain the system;
- use outside product specifications; or
- a pre-existing defect that we did not cause.
Nothing in this clause limits statutory rights relating to defective products, unsafe services, fraud, gross negligence or another liability that may not legally be excluded.
27. INDEMNITY
To the extent permitted by law, you indemnify Greencoin Solar against reasonable third-party claims arising directly from your:
- unlawful website use;
- fraudulent conduct;
- infringement of intellectual-property rights;
- unauthorised access to our systems;
- unlawful content; or
- material breach of these website-use provisions.
This indemnity applies only to the extent caused by your wrongful conduct and does not make you responsible for our negligence, defective products, unsafe services or statutory non-compliance.
28. EVENTS OUTSIDE REASONABLE CONTROL
Neither party will be responsible for delay caused by circumstances outside its reasonable control, including severe weather, natural disasters, civil unrest, fire, flood, national transport disruption, port delays, telecommunications failures, authority delays, import restrictions or widespread supply-chain disruption.
The affected party must take reasonable steps to reduce the delay and resume performance as soon as possible.
This clause does not allow us to retain payment indefinitely without providing the applicable products, services, cancellation option or refund.
29. COMPLAINTS
Complaints may be submitted to:
Email: info@greencoinsolar.co.za
Please include:
- your name and contact details;
- order, invoice or quotation number;
- a description of the complaint;
- relevant dates;
- supporting documents or photographs; and
- the requested outcome.
We will acknowledge written complaints within three Business Days and aim to provide a substantive response within ten Business Days.
Where a complaint is not resolved internally, you may approach an appropriate court, regulator, ombud or tribunal with jurisdiction, including the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud, National Consumer Commission or Information Regulator, where applicable.
30. LEGAL NOTICES
Greencoin Solar selects the following address for formal notices:
Email: info@greencoinsolar.co.za
You select the contact and address details supplied in your order, quotation or signed agreement.
Either party may update its notice details in writing.
Formal legal process must be served in accordance with applicable law.
31. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
We may update these terms to reflect legal, regulatory, operational, security or website changes.
The latest version will display its effective date.
Changes apply prospectively and do not automatically alter an already accepted order, quotation or signed agreement.
Continued use of the website after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised website-use provisions.
32. GOVERNING LAW
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
The parties should first attempt to resolve disputes through good-faith communication and the complaints process.
Nothing in these terms prevents a consumer from approaching a competent court, regulator, ombud or tribunal.
33. GENERAL
If any provision is invalid or unenforceable, it will be severed or limited to the minimum extent necessary. The remaining provisions will continue in force.
A failure to enforce a right does not waive that right.
No employee, installer, salesperson or representative may amend these terms or provide a binding guarantee unless authorised and the amendment or guarantee is recorded in writing.
These terms, together with applicable quotations, policies and signed agreements, constitute the agreement relating to the relevant website use or transaction.
Headings are for convenience only.
Where these terms conflict with a mandatory provision of South African law, the law will prevail.
